- California Genealogical Society and Library. The California
Genealogical Society, organized in San Francisco on February 12,
1898, is one of the premier genealogical resources in Northern
California. The Library is rich in genealogy reference
materials, both standard and unique, covering people and places
in California and the rest of the country. The Society offers
research services, online one-of-a-kind genealogical indexes and
databases, and a research library housing over 38,000 reference
materials from California, the United States, and around the
world.

North Salt Lake, Utah: Heritage Quest, 2001, 3 volumes. Compiled
by volunteers of various California genealogical societies as
part of a project for the California State Genealogical
Alliance. Available in book format and on CD.

California, San Francisco Area Funeral Home Records, 1835-1931
– Imaged Records -This project was indexed in partnership with
the California Genealogical Society and Library. Name index and
images of funeral home records from the Halsted N. Gray – Carew
& English Mortuary Collection, located at the San Francisco
Public Library. Images for all years in collection can be
browsed, but name index currently covers only years 1896-1931.
Collection includes a number of different funeral homes acquired
over time by the Halsted N. Gray – Carew & English Mortuary
company, most from the San Francisco area, but also including
some from Burlingame, Stockton, and Sacramento. The collection
includes funeral register books, burial registers, account
books, case books, etc. Indexes appear at the beginning of some
volumes. FamilySearch.

Images – County records including marriage intentions,
naturalizations, deeds, patents, homesteads, and military
service discharges.

California State University, Chico -- Meriam Library Special
Collections -- Historic Photographs. The rich visual
heritage of northeastern California is documented in over 18.000
historical photographs, many dating from the 19th century and
representing a wide variety of early photographic processes.

- Index to the California Information File, 1846-1986.
Microfiche of index cards at the California State Library in
Sacramento. Has 717,000 cards bearing about 1.4 million
citations to information in California periodicals, newspapers,
manuscript collections, selected books, vertical file
collections, county histories, government documents, theses,
biographical encyclopedias, biographical files, etc. Available
on 550 microfiche, beginning with FHL fiche #6333977.

of San Bernardino, State of California. Yucca Valley,
California: Genealogical Society of Morongo Basin. This is an
alphabetic index of approximately 10,000 names of the men who
registered to vote in San Bernardino County, CA during the
period 1886-1890.

California. The OAC brings together historical materials
from a variety of California institutions, including museums,
historical societies, and archives. Over 120,000 images; 50,000
pages of documents, letters, and oral histories; and 8,000
guides to collections are available.

- San
Francisco Call Database 1869-1895. For the 27 year
period 1869-1891, the annual birth, marriage, and death records
are merged and then broken into smaller files of about 35K each.
This will allow a surname search using only one file. Subsequent
years are broken into similarly sized files. The smaller file
sizes will reduce the access time to download the file.

collection contains more than 250,000 photographs of San
Francisco and California scenes ranging from 1850 to the
present.

Western States Marriage Record Index. For more than two
decades, the BYU-Idaho (formerly known as Ricks College) Arthur
Porter Special Collections area in Rexburg, Idaho has been
extracting early marriage records from counties in the western
part of the United States. Virtually all of the pre-1900
marriages are included in the index for Arizona , Idaho and
Nevada . Many counties for those same states have been extracted
into the 1930's and some, much later. A significant number of
marriages from selected counties in California , western
Colorado , Montana , Oregon , Utah , eastern Washington , and
Wyoming are also included.
