Henry (Henrik Johannesson Rå) Jones,
emigrated from Norway to America in 1857 and served in the Civil
War, serving in the 12th Regiment of the Iowa Volunteers. In
1863 he married Mary Ann Simonson. Mary Ann (Anne Marie
Christensdatter) was born in Sogn, Norway and came with her
parents to Wisconsin in 1857. Henry and Mary Ann farmed in
Vernon County, Wisconsin until 1880 when they moved to Richland
County, N.D. and homesteaded. Henry died there in 1897. Mary Ann
died at Wyndmere, N.D. in 1923. Includes separate chapter on
Martin Jones family and Metropolitan Financial Corporation,
founded by Martin and son Maurice in 1926 in Fargo.
